Books Lately Read

Jeeves and Wooster Omnibus containing The Mating Season, The Code of The Woosters, Right Ho, Jeeves – I’m astonished no one has ever told me about P.G. Wodehouse. A genius at language and comedy.

The First Ladies Detective Agency by Alexandra McCall Smith – I didn’t like it.

Moab Is My Washpot by Stephen Fry – a few really good passages on love.

Also read an Agatha Christie – one of the Poirot stories. Can’t recall that I enjoyed it.

Reread: The Discovery Of Heaven by Henry Muslich

The restaurant was busy. Conversation hummed all around but her screeching was hard and the beng’s voice was loud. I sneeked a glance at them. The beng has red eyes and scoffing sake. The glasses on the table were for politeness: if there was no one, he would have drunk from the bottle. I saw a name card passed hands.
“Macdonald manager,” he said to the chef, grinning.

Milton Friedman

Passed away at age of 94. A lecturer once told us a frightfully dull story how he sought out Mr Friedman to shake his hands when he was visiting a university in America in the 80s. Then, it was a surprise to me that Friedman was alive.
